I naively...I am a Foster parent and Social Worker. I naively was so supportive of Family Preservation, until I became a Foster Mother to a child who had lived through hell. Holding him in my arms as he cried himself to sleep talking about his abuse. Night after night of nightmares and aggressive behavior. Two years later and he is still in the system with no closure in sight. I have no doubt if he knew that he was safe and would not have to go through this trauma again that his final stage of healing would take place. I am so disappointed in my own profession of where he have lost sight on putting priority on protecting those who can not protect themselves. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
